4 arrested in N. Charleston brothel bust-up

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say they arrested two prostitutes and two pimps following an online undercover operation on Wednesday.

Undercover members with the North Charleston Police Department used the website www.backpage.com and were solicited online by two women to meet at an apartment on Crossroads Drive.

When investigators responded to the apartment, they arrested 22-year-old Lillian Ruth Thompson and 26-year-old Brandon Elizabeth Bradford for solicitation for prostitution.

Thompson and Bradford then told detectives that their services were arranged by 42-year-old Kevin Earle Baker and his girlfriend, 26-year-old Christy Nicole Gruber.

The alleged prostitutes said Baker was the renter of the apartment, and that he would be there shortly to collect his share of the money.

A short time later, Baker arrived and was arrested.  During a search at his Kittery Avenue residence, officers confiscated 3.5 grams of marijuana, a desktop computer and a laptop computer.  They also took Baker and Gruber's cell phones.

Both alleged pimps are charged with maintaining a brothel, and simple possession of marijuana.
