Police release driver's 911 call from fatal James Island connector accident

In a newly released 911 call, the driver who struck a bicyclist on the James Island connector, said that the bicyclist swerved in front of him when he struck him.

Authorities found the body of 54-year-old Mitchell Hollon in a marsh below the connector Tuesday morning.

According to a traffic report by the Charleston Police Department, the driver of the van swerved into the bike lane striking Hollon who then went over the connector and into the marsh below.

The report states that the driver was at fault. In the driver's 911 call, he says that the bicyclist swerved in front of him.

No charges have been filed.
