Accused kidnapper goes before bond court judge

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A man accused of kidnapping two women, sexually assaulting one and shooting the other, faced a judge at bond court judge Tuesday night.

Detective James Riser with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office told the judge that 44-year-old Gary Woodside, Jr. is a dangerous man.

Woodside faces an attempted murder charge, two kidnapping charges and criminal sexual conduct. The judge set his bond at $300,000. The judge said Woodside also violated probation, which is another $250,000.

Woodside also faces a first-degree burglary charge, and that carries no bond. He will go before a judge again on August 25 for the that charge.

Police say the incident happened Saturday in Moncks Corner.  They say after Woodside kidnapped the women, he dropped them off on the same road where he had picked them up.

Riser said the women fear for their lives because Woodside lives just down the road from one of the them. The alleged victims were at the bond hearing.

Woodside has already spent time in prison.

According to a background check, in 2000 was convicted of kidnapping, assault and battery and criminal domestic violence.

He was released from prison in 2009.
