Hanahan man arrested in burglary of police chief's house

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Police have arrested a 23-year-old man accused of burglarizing Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen's house in West Ashley.

The Charleston Police Department charged Brian Thomas Rogers with second-degree burglary and petit larceny.

Authorities say Chief Mullen's house was burglarized last Friday just as his wife was arriving home. Chief Mullen's wife says as she was driving around the traffic circle in front of another home, she saw a man running away from the rear of her home into a wooded area.

Mullen then pulled into her home driveway and heard the house alarm going off. When she went inside her house to let her dog out, she saw that the back kitchen window was broken out.

She immediately left her home and called 911.

A police report states that $1,000 worth of office equipment was missing from the home.
