CHARLESTON (WCSC) - The Lowcountry was pummeled by late afternoon thunderstorms, leaving many without power.
Thunder and lightening began pounding around 2 p.m. and powerful rains soon followed.
According to SCE&G, thousands of homes, many of which are in North Charleston, currently do not have power due to the storm. Live 5 News viewers sent in pictures of flooding in some areas as well.
Although the storm has calmed, scattered thunderstorms are still to be expected throughout the evening followed by patchy fog.
The rain will continue into the weekend, as isolated thunderstorms on are on the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, extending into the coming week.
