SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A Spartanburg County mother charged with passing a lethal dose of morphine to her daughter through breast milk wants to be released on bond.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reports that 37-year-old Stephanie Greene asked a judge for bond during a hearing Friday.
Greene has been in jail since she was charged last month with homicide by child abuse. A seven-month investigation began when her daughter, Alexis, was found dead in her bed in her Campobello home.
Authorities say the painkiller got into Greene's breast milk after she took pills and used morphine patches constantly since the child's birth.
Greene's husband told the judge he needs his wife to be released so she can care for the couple's 5-year-old child. The judge said he will issue his decision later.
