Coast Guard rescues boater in Folly Beach

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The Coast Guard has rescued a 28-year-old boater who fell overboard and spent about an hour in the water.

Authorities say they found Baker Dickson in the water at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday and handed him over to emergency medical personnel.

The Coast Guard office in Charleston received reports from the captain of a 21-foot scout boat that Dickson had fallen overboard and was missing at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities used water and air support to search the scene. A Good Samaritan heard Dickson yelling and contacted the Coast Guard.

No major injuries were reported.
