Stall High hires new football coach, athletic director

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston high school hired a new football coach and athletic director on Tuesday.

Johnny Boykin II was hired to be the next football coach and athletic director at Stall High School. Boykin is a native of Clinton, NC.

Boykin was a defensive coordinator, and spent 11 of his 13 seasons at numerous schools in North Carolina. For the past four years, he served as the defensive coordinator for Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, NC under head coach Tommy Norwood.

Boykin has coached 12 players who now play or coach college football. South Carolina players include Marcus Gilchrist (Clemson) who was chosen by the San Diego Chargers in the second round draft pick, Brian Sanders who just finished his collegiate eligibility at Coastal Carolina and Kasey Redfern (Wofford).

Clinton is the home town of NFL running back Willie Parker of the Pittsburgh Steelers and retired Virginia Basketball Coach, Terry Holland.

Boykin graduated from North Carolina A&T State University and has called Greensboro, NC his home for the past twenty years.
