NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities arrested a female suspect they say tried to rob a Walgreens on Dorchester Road on Wednesday morning.
Officers with the North Charleston Police Department arrived on the scene - at the corner of Dorchester Road and Ashley Phosphate road - just before 11 a.m.
Police say 42-year-old Jacquelyn C. Kelly, of New Smyrna Beach in Florida, pulled out a gun and presented a note demanding prescription drugs from the pharmacy. The clerk reportedly stalled the suspect to keep her in the store.
When police arrived, they arrested her. Police say the gun was actually a BB gun.
Kelly is charged with armed robbery.
Police said they have not been able to identify or locate an accomplice at this time, however the investigation is ongoing.
No one was injured.
Authorities say that during the investigation, investigators learned that the suspect may have been involved in similar robberies in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee.
