BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in Berkeley County early Thursday morning.
The fire happened a little after 5 a.m. on Gross Avenue, which runs in between Highways 17 and 176. No one was home at the time of the fire, but firefighters were able to save two dogs.
Firefighters say the heat and humidity, along with flames spreading underneath the flooring of the home, made it difficult to get the fire under control.
Several agencies responded to help put out the fire.
