CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - No arrests have been made in the America Street shooting that killed the 33-year-old son of a local pastor.
Charleston police say the shooting that left 33-year-old Brian Holmes dead happened around 3 a.m. Monday on America Street, near Reid Street in downtown Charleston.
Holmes will be laid to rest Saturday at 11 a.m. at Northwoods Baptist Church. His father, Sonny Holmes, is the lead pastor at that church.
The memorial service will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the James A. Dyal Funeral Home in Summerville.
Officials say Holmes was a 2000 graduate at The Citadel.
Police say Holmes was shot and the car he was driving crashed into a parked car after the shooting.
Charleston police are still investigating the incident. Police do not have a motive or a suspect at this time.
According to Charles Francis with the Charleston Police Department, this is the seventh homicide in the City of Charleston for 2011. Arrests have been made in four of the homicides.
