Police: Teenagers busted for dealing drugs near school

Police arrested two teenagers accused of dealing drugs near a school in North Charleston.

The North Charleston Police Department charged a 16-year-old boy with distribution of marijuana within a 1/2 mile of school and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Also charged was 17-year-old Dante Jermaine Richardson charged with distribution of marijuana within 1/2 mile of a school and park.

During a NCPD S.P.E.E.D. team city wide operation, authorities received information that marijuana was being sold at an address at Thronton Drive.

Undercover officers posing as drug users pulled up to the home and honked their horn. A police report states Richardson came out of the home and was asked by the officers where they could get $20 worth of drugs.

Richardson then went back into the home and a few seconds later came back out with the 16-year-old boy. Authorities say the boy then handed one of the officers two clear plastic bags that contained a green plant like material. An officer then handed the juvenile $20.

The undercover officers then arrested both suspects. Investigators say they recovered a total of 7.4 grams of marijuana from the boy.

Richardson was locked up at the Dorchester County Jail. The juvenile was transported to a juvenile facility.
