ST. HELENA ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Two teens were killed and one injured early Friday morning in Beaufort County after their SUV crashed into a tree on St. Helena Island.
South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the wreck at 259 Seaside Road at 5:44 a.m.
According to authorities, the 2004 Jeep Cherokee was traveling south when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway. Troopers say the driver tried to get the SUV back on the road but overcorrected, went back across the road, and struck a tree.
The Beaufort County Coroner says the driver, 19-year-old Stephan Brown, and a passenger, 18-year-old Shaequan Matthews, were both killed in the accident.
A third passenger, 17-year-old Bobby Price, was transported to MUSC for treatment.
