Charleston police say a 25-year-old man who eluded SWAT teams after a robbery has been linked to three armed robberies.
Authorities say Joe Nathan Jenkins was being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
According to investigators, Jenkins had robbed Lyerly's Cleaners on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard Wednesday afternoon. SWAT teams then searched a home that afternoon and were unable to locate him.
Later that day, an off-duty police officer spotted the suspect minutes after his description was issued by police dispatch which led to the suspect being taken into custody.
The other armed robbery that Nathan is accused of happened on June 8 at a business on 1311 Ashley River Road.
Nathan is also charged with an attempted armed robbery that happened on July 18 on Old Towne Road. In that case, an armed gunman attempted to enter the business at 1141 old Towne Road through the front door but the door was locked. Unable to enter the business, the suspect fled.
No one was injured in any of these incidents. The investigation is ongoing.
