Court denies James Island petition for re-hearing for incorporation

The SC Supreme Court has denied the Town of James Island's petition for a re-hearing on its ruling that the town is illegal.

James Island Mayor Bill Woosley had promised to fight to keep James Island a town.

On June 20, the state supreme court ruled to dissolve the town of James Island for the third time.

Now the City of Charleston is saying that the town should stop spending any more money.

Mayor Woosley says he is disappointed, but that the ruling wasn't entirely unexpected.

He says he and others who favor a town are going to work for incorporation, and to fight to be a town once again.
