HOLLYWOOD, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has identified the person killed Saturday night after failing to pull over for a traffic stop in Hollywood.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified 39-year-old James Brown of Hollywood as the victim.

A deputy patrolling the area noticed a 2002 four-door Buick speeding southbound on Highway 162. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, but Brown failed to pull over.

Investigators say Brown then passed a car on a double-yellow line, ran off the right side of the road, hit a ditch and crashed into a parked car. South Carolina Highway Patrol says Brown was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

This incident is under investigation with the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
