City of Charleston to ask for James Island's assets

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Just days after the South Carolina Supreme Court denied the appeal for the Town of James Island, the City of Charleston is ready for the town to sell off its property.

According to city officials, the city is expected to ask a state court to appoint a receiver to disperse the assets of the Town of James Island.

On Friday, the State Supreme Court rejected the town's appeal of the court's ruling in June that the town had not incorporated properly in 2006.

There is an open house coming up for residents of James Island who are interested in becoming a part of the City of Charleston.

The open house will be Wednesday night at 6:30 at the Lowcountry Senior Center, which is located on Riverland Drive near the James Island County Park.
