SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Numerous tips have helped Summerville police identify several suspects wanted for stealing a woman's purse and cashing more than $2,500 in fraudulent checks.
Investigators say the suspects appear to be involved in two burglaries, three auto thefts and one attempted auto theft in addition to the forgery case. Police are still working the case and are not ready to release the names at this time, but said
The forgery case started after a Summerville woman told police that someone stole her purse out of her car in Berkeley County. Officers suspect that two men and a woman are involved in the illegal activity.
Police say 10 checks were cashed in four different areas including, Berkeley County, North Charleston, Dorchester County and Charleston. Police say the suspects carried the stolen purse into a store when they cashed fraudulent checks.
A total of $2,517.73 was stolen from the victim's account.
Police released surveillance video of the suspects cashing the stolen checks. The suspects were also seen getting into a car as they were leaving Sears.
