EDISTO ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County sheriff's deputies say a fight that broke out at the Pit Club on Edisto Island early Saturday morning lead to five people being shot and an investigation by authorities.
According to investigators, four males and a female were shot after a disturbance call was received around 4:40 a.m. Deputies responded to 1467 Hwy 174 and found four victims still on site with bullet wounds.
"At this point it appears to be a fight inside of the club," said Major James Brady, spokesman with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. "As people were trying to leave the club, they heard gunshots out in the parking lot."
Deputies observed wounds on the female victim's face from the shooting. She could not talk and was transported to the hospital. Casings were found in the road outside the club.
The victims were transported by EMS to Roper St. Francis hospital and MUSC. A fifth victim had left the scene and was transported to Roper St. Francis in a private vehicle. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
Detectives are working to determine a motive and a suspect.
