MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A stranded kayaker has a good samaritan and the Coast Guard to thank for his rescue.
The Coast Guard says a kayaker beached his kayak around 1 p.m. Saturday on an inaccessible island on the Cooper River.
The Coast Guard sent a 25-foot rescue boat and a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter to the scene. A good Samaritan with a flat boat bottom was able to assist in the rescue. The kayaker was transferred to the Coast Guard and brought ashore.
The kayaker was not injured.
The Coast Guard reminds all boaters of the importance of wearing a life jacket when navigating aboard recreational vessels and personal watercraft.
