Charleston Coast Guard helps recover $180 million in cocaine

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Two Charleston Coast Guard cutters are being credited for helping to recover more than $180 million of cocaine from a submarine that sank in the Caribbean last month.

The Gallitan and Oak cutters were searching for the sub using sonar equipment. The sub was located off the coast of Honduras near Nicaragua.

The drugs were turned over to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
