Shoppers rush to take advantage of tax free weekend

Parents of students are flocking to stores to take advantage of South Carolina's tax free weekend.

Tax free weekend began Friday morning at midnight. The annual lift on taxes results in the second busiest shopping season of the year.

The prime benefactors of the suspended taxes are parents that are preparing to send their kids back to school. Almost all school supplies will be devoid of tax add-ons this weekend.

Only a few items aren't included under the tax free umbrella. Items missing out on the exemption include cosmetics, jewelry and glasses.

The state's tax free weekend will conclude at midnight on Sunday.
