Preparing for a hurricane: Residents attend forum to get ready

MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Lowcountry residents had a chance to ask the experts and get ready. A hurricane forum in Mt. Pleasant was a one-stop shop to see if you are ready in case disaster strikes.

Some people say they were surprised to find out there will won't be any shelters in Mt. Pleasant if a hurricane does hit.

Experts say that is because Mt. Pleasant will more than likely be underwater after a major hurricane.

Mt. Pleasant police, fire rescue, and the Red Cross were just some of the experts talking to people at Seacoast Church Wednesday evening, encouraging everyone to have a plan.

No matter where you live, experts want you to have enough supplies for five to seven days, not three like commonly thought.

Also, leave the area during voluntary evacuations. That will give you enough time to keep your family safe.
