CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Tropical activity continues to pick up in the Atlantic basin on Friday.
Two strong tropical waves have continued their paths towards the Americas and are showing signs of organization. Tropical wave 92L is almost halfway across to the Atlantic Ocean and 93L is hovering over the Cape Verde Islands.
All of the reliable forecast models bring both systems to named storms over the upcoming days and move them to the west toward the Lesser Antilles in about five days or so.
That's nothing compared to the activity over Africa right now, where five more tropical waves have developed.
It is too early to tell if the storms will have any impact on the Lowcountry at this point, but we will continue to monitor the systems.
