McClellanville fire ruled suspicious

MCCLELLANVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Investigators were called out to a suspicious fire in McClellanville on Tuesday night. Fire officials say someone intentionally set a fire by placing a stack of magazines near a gas fire place with a line of straw pieces leading up to a lit candle.

Charleston County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home at 9739 Two Pines Road in McClellanville around 9:15 p.m.

Awendaw fire fighters were already on scene and the property manager advised investigators that the front door had been forced open. The manager said it appeared as though an unknown person had rummaged through the residence.

The fire was located in the back of the residence near several bottles of cleaning solution. Officials also found a stack of magazines near the gas fire place. Leading up to the magazines was a line of straw pieces coming down from a lit candle.

No suspects have been arrested and the case in ongoing.
