NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police are looking for a male suspect wanted in connection with a rape and assault they say happened in an alley last weekend.
A North Charleston police officer was on patrol near Rivers and Reynolds Avenue when she saw a tan pick-up truck stopped in the roadway. After shining the police cruiser's spot light to check the area, the officer saw a woman wearing a green tank top come out of the alley and start waving her down in distress.
The woman told the officer that she had been beaten up and raped in the alley. According to the victim, she was walking down Reynolds Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male who said he wanted to talk to her. She walked with him to Troy Avenue behind a store, where he then allegedly grabbed her by the neck and asked for her to kiss him.
The two argued and struggled. The victim told police that the man then punched her in the face, bit her in the right ear and threw her to the ground. She said he then took her shorts off and raped her.
According to police, the man told her, "This stay between us. Who are you going to tell?" The victim screamed and said that she needed to leave and that her man was looking for her. The suspect allegedly responded by saying, "I'll beat you and your old man up."
The suspect fled on foot towards Grayson Avenue and the victim flagged down a motorist for help. The motorist was driving the tan pick-up truck observed in the roadway.
The suspect is described as a black male with thin to medium build. He is around 6'0" tall and has a small afro and a goatee. He is missing his front teeth and his eyes are described as sunken in with a swollen brow. He was wearing all black clothing.
The victim said she saw the suspect walk from the Star of America Hotel towards Reynolds Avenue prior to the incident. The suspect took the victim's shorts with him.
