Dog killed after fire damages North Charleston home

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are investigating a fire that killed a dog and damaged a home in North Charleston Wednesday.

The North Charleston Fire Department responded to the house fire on the 2100 block of Command Road around 11:30 a.m.

Residents were able to escape unharmed, but the family dog was overcome by smoke and died.

The American Red Cross will be assisting the family of seven.

The Red Cross is also helping a family whose home was damaged on Midland Park Road.
