Al Skinner to visit St. John's High School this week

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Former basketball coach Al Skinner will speak with students and faculty of St. John's High School this Wednesday.

Skinner most recently coached for Boston College, where he was thrice named Big East Coach of the Year before the team moved to the ACC.  In 2001 Skinner was named The National College Basketball Coach of the Year.

Prior to coaching in Boston, Skinner was head coach at the University of Rhode Island.

As a collegiate player, Skinner suited up for the University of Massachusetts Minutemen alongside NBA legend Julius Erving.  Skinner also played with Erving on the New York Nets only professional championship in 1976 in the ABA.

Skinner is expected to address students at an assembly at 11:45 a.m.  He will also spend some time in the cafeteria during the lunch periods talking with students.
