CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston City Councilman Jimmy Gallant said he won't be seeking re-election to the city's newly drawn District 3 seat on Thursday.
Gallant's District 5 underwent major changes following redistricting, moving it off the peninsula and towards the rapidly-growing western suburbs.
Gallant said he wanted to focus more on his non-profit for kids in need. He also said he's been on the council for twelve years and that he was ready to move on.
Gallant would have been running against District 3 Councilman James Lewis.
