Port of Charleston reopens, Hurricane Irene damage assessment complete

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Captain of the Port of Charleston has stood down from previous port conditions related to Hurricane Irene as of 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Port of Charleston is now open under normal operations after Hurricane Irene damage assessment was completed.

Michael White, commander of Coast Guard Sector Charleston and Captain of the Port of Charleston, surveys the Port of Charleston during an over flight Saturday. During the over flight Capt. White assessed the shoreline for damage caused by Hurricane Irene.
