COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - State Treasurer Curtis Loftis will serve as the South Carolina chair of the presidential campaign of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Romney announced the appointment Sunday, saying South Carolina is an important part of his campaign.
Loftis said in a news release that he's supporting Romney because he believes the former governor created jobs and cut spending while leading Massachusetts.
Loftis was elected treasurer last year in South Carolina, which holds the South's first GOP presidential primary early next year.
