Mt. Pleasant to host first ever free business expo

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - The town of Mount Pleasant and Mount Pleasant Business Association now partnering up to promote local shops and restaurants.

On Thursday, Sept.8, the first ever Entrepreneur and Business Expo will take place.

The town says this inaugural expo event is to help grow healthy business community.

The town says the event will feature speakers offering business promotion tips, new networking trends, and profession development advice, a vendor expo, and networking.

The town will also promote its own business incubator program which gives six businesses a chance to have space in town hall to start up.

"Our business incubator Biz Inc is for startup companies that are looking for space so they can come to us. For $250 a month if they are a creative industry and have a developable workable business plan, they can get space," Town Business Development Coordinator Quin Stinchfield said.

About 60 vendors will be on hand to let you know about their services.

The event starts at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Omar Shrine Temple in Mount Pleasant. It is free and open to businesses, entrepreneurs, and the public.

    Charleston police officers are crediting a concerned citizen for four arrests on Tuesday morning.A department spokesperson said they received a tip about several men with handguns along Norman Street at around 1am.After a responding officer tried to pull over a vehicle with several males inside, the men fled on foot.
