Sexual assault suspect leads deputies on high-speed chase

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies arrested a wanted man after a high-speed chase started in Litchfield Beach and ended at an apartment complex near Surfside Beach on Tuesday night.

Georgetown County Sheriff's officers attempted to arrest 48-year-old Richard Keith Lilly, of Murrells Inlet, on an outstanding warrant for criminal domestic violence around 7 p.m.  Deputies said Lilly failed to stop in his burgundy van and fled north on Highway 17 to an apartment complex on Glenns Bay Road in Horry County.

Deputies said Lilly exceeded speeds of 70 miles per hour during the chase.  He was taken into custody after he became cornered at the apartment complex parking lot.

Lilly is wanted in Maryland for sexual assault.

Lilly is also charged with open container, failure to stop for blue light, reckless driving, no SC driver's license, and a criminal domestic violation.

Lilly is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
