COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Columbia police say they wrote 31 citations for underage drinking at an off-campus house party for the 21st birthday of one of its residents.
The State newspaper reported Thursday that police busted the party at a home rented by a Delta Delta Delta sorority member.
The police report doesn't say whether the 31 were University of South Carolina students. The newspaper reports they include the 20-year-old treasurer of USC's Delta Delta Delta chapter.
USC vice president Jerry Brewer says action against the chapter depends on whether it was an official sorority event.
USC suspended the new member process for fraternities last month. Seven fraternities were accused of providing alcohol to underage recruits during rush parties. Fraternities in good standing invited new members to join a week later.
