Driver wanted for high speed chase in Goose Creek

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have arrested one man and are looking for another in connection to a high speed chase on Monday.

Authorities are looking for 23-year-old Dennis Lee Smalls wanted for failure to stop for blue lights and speeding. The Goose Creek Police Department charged 20-year-old Stacy Lopez Barrow with disorderly conduct.

On Monday afternoon, an officer saw a red Jeep Cherokee speeding on Liberty Hall Road and conducted a traffic stop.

When the officer asked for both men's driver's licence, they told the officer that they did not have their licenses and instead wrote their information on a piece of paper and gave it to the officer.

According to investigators, when the officer went back to his patrol car to check the suspects' information, the Jeep drove off.

An incident report states that during the chase, the Jeep reached speeds of more than 80 mph. Authorities say at one point, both men jumped out of their vehicle which then struck a tree on Jeffers Lane.

Both suspects then ran behind a house and into the woods. Police then set up a perimeter in the area and found Barrow who admitted being the passenger of the Jeep.

Authorities ask if you have any information on the whereabouts of Smalls to call police.
