West Ashley woman dies from stab wound; Husband in custody

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies in Sumter County located a man wanted for allegedly stabbing his wife to death Friday in West Ashley.

Authorities arrested 29-year-old Chelsey Black Jr. in Sumter County around midnight Friday. Charleston County sheriff's deputies had been looking for Black after his wife's body was found at a home on Fife Lane on Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, the Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Amanda Black, of Charleston. She died as a result of a stab wound.

Chelsey Black is currently being held at the Sumter County Jail, pending his return to Charleston County. He will be charged with murder.

Earlier Friday, sheriff's deputies located Black's 2-year-old daughter in Sumter. Authorities say Black's wife was found dead around 4:15 p.m. Investigators say the incident may have started as a domestic violence incident.
