SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The American Red Cross assisted a Summerville family of three whose home was destroyed early Saturday morning in a fire.
The fire occurred at 10929 Dorchester Road and destroyed the home. One adult and two children were displaced by the fire.
The Red Cross provided the family with financial assistance to help replace food and clothing lost in the blaze. They also received comfort kits, containing personal emergency supplies such as toiletries. The children were given stuffed animals.
The Red Cross has assisted 764 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties since January 1.
