DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Florida man was arrested after authorities say he robbed a store in St. George and carjacked two women around 8:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 26 in Dorchester County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called out to the scene in reference to a man that was lying down on side of the road around mile marker 172 eastbound. Authorities say that two women pulled over to check on the man, but as the approaches, he got up and took their car.
A state trooper then positioned himself at mile marker 184 to wait on the suspect, who was heading in that direction with the stolen car. The trooper then pursued the vehicle in a high speed chase.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Department joined in on the chase and deployed stop sticks to force the car to pull over around mile marker 195 eastbound in the median.
Troopers conducted a felony car stop and arrested 31-year-old Jamaine Corey Dozier of Jacksonville, Fla. They also recovered a handgun from Dozier.
Investigators say Dozier recently committed a murder in Florida. After further investigation, Dozier was also involved in an armed robbery that occurred in St. George early Sunday morning.
St. George police say Dozier robbed a store on Jim Bilton Boulevard. He allegedly took all the money out of the cash register and forced the clerk into the freezer at gunpoint.
Dozier is charged with failure to stop for a blue light and driving under suspension by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Other charges are expected from different agencies.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Department and Berkeley County Sheriff's Office also help in the investigation. Dozier is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
