Authorities continue search for missing Summerville man

CENTRAL, SC (WCSC) - The case has gone cold in the search for a former Clemson student from Summerville, according to the police chief in the upstate Town of Central.

So far, every search for 23-year-old Bryan Askew has come up empty. Askew's cousin said the family believes someone knows something. Askew disappeared on Sept. 6 and hasn't been heard from since.

The police chief said foul play cannot be ruled out but it isn't necessarily suspected.

Askew was last seen at the Summit Apartments in the Town of Central. Investigators say his wallet, keys and laptop were left in his apartment but his cellphone was gone. The area around the apartment complex has been searched several times including twice this week. Those searches were from the ground and air and have turned up no clues.

Police say cellphone records show Askew hasn't made any calls since the day he disappeared.
Askew's mother is praying someone will come forward with information about her son.

"It's been real hard, but I have the help of Jesus Christ and he's holding my hand through this. Something will come up," Joyce Askew said.

Police say Askew had one year left at Clemson, but his financial aid funding didn't go through this semester so he had to withdraw.
