Anna Knapp Blvd closures return Tuesday

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Officials say that Anna Knapp Blvd between Johnnie Dodds Blvd and West Frontage Rd will be closed from Tuesday, September 20 through Monday, September 26.

The closure is part of the continuing road work by the Johnnie Dodds Boulevard Improvements Project.

Motorist will be detoured using S. Shellmore Blvd and West Frontage Road.

Crews will be installing underground storm drainage pipes between the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The speed limit on Johnnie Dodds Blvd will be reduced from 45 to 35 mph.

If the weather is poor any day during construction, the closure will continue until work is complete.

The goal of the project, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2013, is to improve the traffic flow in and out of Mount Pleasant, especially before and after school and work hours.

The project is funded by the Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax and managed by Charleston County Government, in close coordination with the Town of Mount Pleasant and the S.C. Department of Transportation.
