Charleston airport looks to extend extra fee for passengers

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - An airport fee of $4.50 is tacked on when you fly out of Charleston International Airport.

That fee is set to expire at the end of the year, but the Aviation Authority has applied to the federal government to keep it going through 2013.

The funds have been used to pay for improvements to the airport. The Aviation Authority wants to upgrade the nearly 30-year-old building to accommodate growth and security changes.
