NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Local first responders got some hands on training Thursday and the training prepared them to save lives.
Scene of the Accident is a non-profit organization based out of Texas that travels the country training firefighters and first responders. On Thursday, the group came out to train emergency personnel in North Charleston.
Participants worked on how to get someone safely out of a car after an accident. The exercise included taking patients out of windows instead of doors as car companies are making those smaller. The advance training is required because the way cars are made is ever changing.
"It's so important today that we get this kind of training as a first responder because the lives they save are those of our friends and family," said Todd Hoffman with Scene of the Accident.
Firemen, EMT's and paramedics from all over the area took part in the training.
