Woman pleads guilty to falsely reporting sexual assault on Navy base

BEAUFORT, SC (WCSC) - United States Attorney William N. Nettles stated that 30-year-old Tracy Lynn Valderrama of Beaufort pleaded guilty to providing a false statement to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Valderrama admitted that on Feb. 3, 2009, while a resident on Parris Island, she reported to NCIS that a masked individual broke into her home, put a knife to her throat and sexually assaulted her.

Navy investigators later found through that this did not happen.

Valderrama faces up to five years imprisonment for the offense. The plea was taken by the Honorable Sol Blatt Jr..  The case was investigated by agents of the NCIS, and is being prosecuted by Nathan Williams of the Charleston office.
