ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) - A man says he was shot in the leg after an argument over a parking space.
An Orangeburg police officer says he was patrolling the area of Edgewood Apartment on Folly Road when he heard a loud pop and saw a flash from a gun by a person standing by the playground at 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The officer began to investigate who had fired the shots, and then he heard three to four more shots fired.
As the gun shots continued, the officer said he saw two people run pass the playground towards the Hampton Chase Apartments and another run across the street between two buildings toward the Dogwood Apartments.
The officer said he drove his vehicle to the side of the buildings and began to take cover.
According to an incident report, the officer called for backup, advising them that shots were fired in the Edgewood Apartment Complex.
The officer then came across two men, a woman and a baby. One of the men had been shot in the upper right thigh and he had a swollen eye.
According to the woman, the incident started in the parking lot of her residency, while returning home from running errands.
She said she was trying to park when a green Chevrolet Tahoe began to back out and she blew her horn.
As the woman exited the car with the men and the baby, a man from the Tahoe asked, "Is there a problem?"
The men responded "No," and asked the man in the Tahoe if he had a problem. He said "No" and left.
Ten minutes later, a knock was heard at the door. One of the men opened the door to find the man from the Tahoe with two other men, according to an incident report.
The men inside the house stepped outside and began walking towards the playground with the man from the Tahoe and his two acquaintances.
The victim says the three men all pulled out guns, with one smacking one man upside the head and another shooting him in the leg.
The victim is in stable condition and investigators are still investigating this shooting.
