(CNN) - Lady Gaga is on a mission to make bullying illegal in the wake of the suicide of a New York teenager.

Jamey Rodemeyer, 14, killed himself Sunday after enduring harassment from classmates about his sexuality.

The teenager had previously made a video for the "It Gets Better" PSA project, in which he called Gaga an inspiration.

Gaga turned to her Twitter account Wednesday to express her anger at the bullying of Rodemeyer, who lived in Buffalo, NY.

"I am meeting with our President," Gaga tweeted. "I will not stop fighting."

In her remarks, Gaga said that bullying is a hate crime, and she plans to push to make it illegal.

"This must end. Our generation has the power to end it," Gaga wrote. "Trend it #MakeALawForJamey."
