CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A killer is on the run after a 21-year-old man is shot to death at a Charleston apartment complex earlier this month. The victim's mother is now crying out for help from the public.
"Anybody with any information, stop withholding it. Stop talking about that snitch and stuff like that. This young boy is gone a 21-years-old," murder victim's mother Yolanda Shine said.
Shine describes her son Thomas Shine as a young man who loved life and was the loving father to a young boy.
"He tried to change his life, not try. He did that. He changed his life, and that's what makes me happy sometimes when I think back," Shine said.
Charleston Police say Shine was shot to death at an apartment on Line Street. They say it happened at about 1 a.m. on Friday September 16th.
"Oh God, this was my biggest fear, my biggest fear in the world was not to have my child here with me," Shine said.
Shine's mother says he was at the Line Street apartment complex waiting for a ride. Police say he had been shot through the back door of one of the apartments.
Police say witnesses saw two male suspects ride away from the shooting scene on beach cruiser bikes.
Police are looking for Donyell Wright in connection with the shooting, and he goes by the nickname "Cross-Eyed Donny." They say his last known address was on Longpoint Road in Mount Pleasant.
"I need justice for me, so my son can be put to rest. It seems like he doesn't want to rest until his killer is caught," Shine said.
Police have not released a motive in this deadly shooting, but if you know anything about the crime or the whereabouts of "Cross-Eyed Donny, " you should call Crimestoppers at (843) 554-111 and your tip will be anonymous.
