
Source: Berkeley County IndependentEddie Southard won a special election in Berkeley County and was chosen to represent state house district 100 and replace former State Rep. David Umphlett who died in May.
Southard won the election with about 60 percent of the votes. Southard is Berkeley County's planning commission chairman.
He was up against democrat Tonia Aiken-Taylor, who is currently on the Moncks Corner Town Council.
District 100 includes a small portion of goose creek ....near the naval weapons station... As well as the moncks corner area.
The district includes more than 17,000 registered voters in parts of Goose Creek, Moncks Corner, Whitesville, Cordesville, Pimlico and Macedonia.
