Georgetown man arrested after high-speed chase

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown County sheriff's deputies arrested a man following a high speed chase Wednesday morning.

A Georgetown County deputy attempted to stop a speeding car driven by 32-year-old John Grover Frasier around 11 a.m. Wednesday, but when the car failed to stop, a chase ensued.

According to authorities, Frasier led deputies on a brief pursuit through the McDonald and Greentown Communities of Georgetown County. The chase reached speeds of more than 80 mph on Highmarket Street.

Deputies say when Frasier was apprehended, he refused to comply with their orders. Deputies struggled with Frasier briefly before he was taken into custody.

Frasier was charged with failure to stop for a blue light, disregarding a stop sign, driving under suspension or subsequent offense, speeding over 25 mph, hindering and obstructing police, reckless driving and habitual offender.

Frasier is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
