SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The Summerville Police Department charged two people in connection with the theft of more than a dozen dryers from laundry rooms at several Summerville apartments.
Authorities charged 40-year-old Noel Rogers and 49-year-old Doris Bernhardt with eight counts of third-degree burglary.
Police say the charges stem from a case where 13 coin operated dryers and one washing machine were stolen from four Summerville apartment laundry rooms from Aug. 30 to Sept. 19.
Both received a $150,000 bond and were transported back to the Charleston County Detention Center where they are being held after the Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested them for stealing a washing machine in Ladson.
Deputies arrested Rogers and Bernhardt on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a washing machine from the 24 Hour Coin Laundry on Highway 78 in Ladson on Sept. 14. Both were charged with petit larceny.
The sheriff's office says that the two went into the business, loaded the washer into a pick-up truck and drove off.
In one case, the thieves returned three days straight to steal four dryers and a washing machine.
