Highway patrol charges 1 after wreck on I-26

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - One of the motorists involved in a two-car accident on Interstate 26, which caused major traffic delays Tuesday morning, has been charged by South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident happened around 7 a.m. Tuesday near mile marker 217 toward the Spruill Avenue exit.  The left two lanes of I-26 east were closed for roughly an hour until the collision was cleaned up.

According to highway patrol, a 2010 Toyota pick-up truck and a 2002 Hyundai were traveling east on I-26. The driver of the Hyundai, 42-year-old Isabel Detzler, lost control and struck the Toyota, causing it to overturn.

The Hyundai then ran off the road after colliding with the Toyota.

Detzler is charged with driving too fast for conditions. The driver of the Toyota was transported to MUSC.
